Open the door
Red letters, the words of Christ says Rev 3:20 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
It really is that simple 😀Yet we complicate it. We act as if God is the one who is being aloof. Think about the culture we live in today. There once was a time in history when people were very interactive, especially with their neighbors, people on the street, and in the marketplace (not the marketplace we use today on fb), such as the grocery store, hardware store, etc. Hospitality was a real thing. Especially on Sundays. People of today barely get together with their own families. Rarely share a meal around the same table. If the doorbell rings or there's a knock at the door now, we duck and hide like we are being invaded by criminals. We have doorbell cameras that alert us if someone dares to cross the threshold of our porches and sidewalks. Yet the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, our Savior Christ Jesus, stands at the door and knocks. Yes, our homes, our doors, not just the door at the church we attend. But I would even venture to say, unfortunately, at some of those doors, he has been asked to knock even on those doors. The doors of our hearts need to be guarded. Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. But not when it comes to letting our savior in. He should have full access. Our doors should be open to him at all times, so he can walk right in. But our Lord and Savior does not barge into people's homes (we are the dwelling place of the Lord and the Holy Spirit). He wants and asks us to invite HIm in. Have you answered the door? He is standing there waiting for you to open the door.
